How to Be Great – According to Ken

Although you can measure greatness in any way you like, and I respect them all, one thing I know from my experience is that leaning beyond your comfort zone toward your dreams is what expands your capabilities, and opens doors to greater possibilities.

The more often you lean beyond your comfort zone the easier it becomes, and the easier it becomes, the greater steps you take and soon you'll be doing things that you didn't think were possible for you or thought you didn't even want to do.

We all have dreams, some buried deep down from the first time we were made fun of as a child, but we all have them.
The people who are doing something about it, actively reaching out toward their dream in some way each day are the ones who have direction, drive, motivation and guts.

It's just a choice, not natural talent or ability that defines who is happy in the end. For those who are completely filled up and satisfied with where their life is now, I applaud you because you have now what most millionaires today thought they could achieve through their many accomplishments.

There are different things that each of us need to achieve in life to feel complete. When you can say to yourself "If I die today I will die happy because I know I have done the absolute maximum with what God has given me in my life." then you have reached the level of greatness that I aspire to.

9-5er’s

If everyone worked at their jobs 9-5, there would be no Thomas Edison, Wright Brothers, Mother Theresa, Steve Jobs, Richard Branson, and anybody who's made a difference on the world stage.

People who feel that by quitting their 9-5 jobs they threaten the world financial system should not.

But there are those who want more.

Some want the chance, no, even just a faint possibility of attaining the extra-ordinary.

They will give up their "ordinary" existence in exchange for risk, adventure, danger, living life on their own terms, and ultimately FREEDOM.

The real threat is not that everyone quits their 9-5 jobs, but rather that those who have, the Mark Zuckerburgs, Ingvar Kamprads, Nelson Mandelas, Bill Gates's and Anthony Robbins's return to a 9-5 existence.

But in reality there is no threat either way because those who have tasted the extra-ordinary can never go back, and those who choose to continue to find reasons why they cannot will always find a reason.

As for world financial stability? With the vast majority of the world financial power's citizens working to make someone else rich, and the world economy the way it is now, do you really think there is a risk?

Really?

Ten Things I Love About You

I love the way you dress when you want to get my attention.

I love the way you let other women know that I'm taken.

I love the way you love me when I'm weird.

I love when you act weird.

I love it when you melt to the music.

I love that you're never too tired for ... me.

I love that you let me feel like I'm in charge, when you're the real power behind me.

I love your mighty tornadoes that blow through and lose steam and turn into a beautiful sunset if I'm patient enough to wait it out.

I love you for letting me be a boy but treating me like a man.

I love you for believing in my dreams and standing beside me through the good, the bad, and the ugly!

I Love You

You know who you are.

Whiners are Losers!

What separates the winners from the losers in life? The list can be pretty long, but if you've ever read the book "Think and Grow Rich", which by the way is not only about making money, you'll understand that one of the most basic, yet most important things to remember if you want to be a winner in life is to keep a positive outlook.

This is not to say that you should go into a state of denial and tell yourself that you live in a wonderful place when your house really actually looks like a dump! See things as they are, but give them alternate, empowering meanings which will be beneficial to your personal growth.

In the book the author talks about his son who was born without ears, but he refused to treat him any differently than other children who had normal hearing. He explained to him about the advantages he had over others with things like getting special treatment from his teacher because of his lack of hearing and being able to sell more newspapers than others because people pity him, etc. Because his son was able to see every situation as an advantage instead of a handicap, he overcame his handicap and became an overachiever and a very successful salesman and businessman.

The people I encounter who are not making progress in their lives have three main things they whine about:

1. I don't have enough education

2. I don't have enough money

3. I don't have enough time

Education. If history ever repeats itself, which I believe it does--a lack of education never stopped the likes of Edison, Ford, and even Steve Jobs. Don't get me wrong here--I'm not knocking education, just don't let the lack of it become an excuse! If you feel you need it, GET IT!

Money, or capital may have been a necessity 30 years ago to start your own business, but today there are countless successful companies which were born of the internet revolution which required little or no initial capital investment. If you want a good example explained, buy the book: "You Call the Shots"

Time. We all have the same amount of time and you may have heard this before, but it's so true! The things in your life that take your time (youtube, gaming, cleaning the house?) now are the things that you feel are most important to you whether or not you admit it to yourself. Why not do yourself a favor and put personal-development at the top of your list? My wife is a very busy person and has 7 kids to take care of--myself included--and she said she really did not have time to fit in a daily exercise routine (and I'll admit I was almost convinced). I had to coach her and help her put it above all else, recognizing that if her health failed, then all else in her life that depended on her health, which is just about everything, would also fail. The result? She's already started each day with her exercise routine, prioritizing it above the rest of her duties, and she's on a roll!

What's on the top of your list?

A Cancelled Breakthrough

Some of you may have guessed by now that I'm a bit of a Tony Robbins fan, and as such am disappointed at NBC's decision to pull the plug on his reality show "Breakthrough with Tony Robbins" after only two episodes.

It brings me back to the reality that no matter how hard you try, and no matter how much good you do to bring happiness to others, if it ain't popular with the big money-making (network) boys, then you're out of business, at least their businesses.

Another reality that stabbed through my fluffy feel good thoughts is that he's just not mean enough. Increasingly each year more mean, cutting, and just plain rude shows are climbing TV's popularity charts. What is the object of most reality shows these days? To win at all costs, and the more you cut down and sabotage your competition, the more popular the show is.

Tony's show is about a win-win situation where everyone is happy in the end, but most people want to see someone lose, someone humiliated, someone hurt, or even physically injured.

My only wish now is that another network will pick up the remaining 4 episodes and market them to a more receptive audience that will appreciate the quality content that Tony provides.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
